Description

Louis Vuitton is seeking a legal counsel to join its legal team in South Asia. The legal team provides key support for all of Louis Vuitton’s business initiatives and supporting functions. The ideal candidate should be committed, dedicated, accountable, focused, detail-orientated and be able to mix into a diverse and collaborative environment, and partner seamlessly with cross-functional business teams.

The position will be based in Singapore and the legal counsel shall provide key support for all legal matters (excluding intellectual property issues) arising from Louis Vuitton’s operations in South Asia. This position reports directly to the South Asia local Senior VP/CFO based in Singapore, and functionally to the Legal Director and General Counsel for APAC.

Les missions

Legal Matters

  • Deliver strategic legal support and advice to all departments in Louis Vuitton (covering finance, operations, information security, client development, e-commerce) within South Asia (namely Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, India, Australia & New Zealand)
  • Draft, negotiate, review and advise on full-spectrum regulatory and commercial agreements (including but not limited to areas of general corporate and commercial, business collaboration, distribution, event, licensing, non-disclosure, service, security, logistics sponsorships, acquisition and warehousing)
  • Draft, negotiate, review and advise on leasing documentation, including tenancy agreements, variations, renewals and termination
  • Manage, advise on and resolve asserted or potential commercial disputes between Louis Vuitton and third parties
  • Liaise and maintain constructive communications and interactions with government and/or regulatory authorities
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, instruct and coordinate external legal counsel as required
  • Partner with the APAC legal team to formulate, roll out and embed regional legal best practices

Compliance Matters

  • Monitor and report on legislative and regulatory changes impacting Louis Vuitton’s business operations in South Asia
  • Manage legal compliance projects and workstreams, including product compliance, consumer protection, anti-money laundering and corporate governance frameworks
  • Deliver legal and compliance training to internal staff
  • Support legal, compliance assignments and special projects as tasked by the Legal Director and General Counsel for APAC from time to time

Data Privacy Matters

  • Manage and advise on Louis Vuitton’s data privacy compliance arising from its operations
  • Draft, negotiate, review and advise on data processing agreements and privacy-related contracts
  • Maintain and update Louis Vuitton’s external and internal privacy policies and procedural guidelines
  • Monitor developments in South Asia’s data protection regime, laws and regulatory framework
  • Conduct regular privacy risk assessments, coordinate data audits and maintain compliant privacy documentation
  • Handle privacy-related user complaints or incidents of breach
  • Manage communications and interactions with government and/or regulatory authorities

Profil

10+ years of post-qualification experience gained from reputable law firms and/or multinational in-house legal teams Hold valid, good-standing legal practitioner qualification in a common law jurisdiction Solid general corporate/commercial experience and knowledge of the business and legal practices in South Asian jurisdictions Extensive experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements Experience leading and managing legal and regulatory compliance projects, including in areas of e-commerce, privacy and consumer protection Prior working experience within luxury, retail or fast-moving consumer goods industries is strongly preferred Strong commercial awareness and business-orientated legal judgement Ability to provide strategic advice and practical solutions effectively in a timely fashion in a dynamic and fast-paced environment Detail-orientated and able to work independently and collaborate cross functionally Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills Collaborative team mindset, proactive work attitude and high responsiveness to business needs
