This role is the primary owner of controls programming—developing PLC/HMI/SCADA logic, motion control, and associated automation interfaces—while collaborating with mechanical, electrical, process, and quality teams to deliver robust, safe, and maintainable solutions. This role spans the full lifecycle: requirements definition, architecture, implementation, FAT/SAT, commissioning, validation, and ongoing support to ensure safety, reliability, and throughput. /em/ppemThis position is based at Transitions Optical Inc., and is part of the Global Engineering team, offering occasional support for global engineering initiatives./em/ppstrongMAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/strong/pulliDevelop, test, and implement programming for PLC/robotic systems, utilizing common platforms such as Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley and Epson Robotics/liliDesign and implement HMI/SCADA screens, alarms, recipes, and interlocks; optimize usability and maintainability/liliIntegrate industrial networks and appropriate field devices (EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, IO‑Link)/liliPartner with cross-functional teams (GE/Ramp;D/Operations/Process/Quality/IT) to define requirements and deliver integrated solutions/liliCoordinate with machine builders, system integrators, and component vendors; review designs, run design reviews, and manage punch lists/liliManage and/or execute software development for new equipment/liliSupport concept testing, characterization, optimization, and validation efforts/liliPerform I/O checkout, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and validation (including safety validation) for Ramp;D and production equipment./liliEnsure equipment documentation is developed and maintained appropriately/liliEnsure all new equipment conforms to organizational Machine Safety standards/liliSeek ways to improve process equipment in terms of reliability, throughput, process robustness, flexibility, and cost/liliProvide technical training to colleagues as needed/liliProvide on‑floor support for equipment startup, debugging, and operations; respond to downtime events quickly and efficiently/liliOccasional weekend work/liliDomestic amp; International travel (up to 10%)/li/ulpstrongBASIC QUALIFICATIONS/strong/pulliS. in Electrical Engineering, Controls/Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)/li/ululli3-6 years of hands-on experience in programming PLCs, robots, and HMIs for industrial equipment/liliIn-depth knowledge of PLC, robot, and safety programming, mainly Allen-Bradley and Epson systems/liliFamiliarity with electrical schematics and panel standards/liliStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross functionally/liliOverall mechanical aptitude and familiarity with electro-pneumatic equipment/liliAbility to simplify complex problems and pursue practical, effective solutions/liliProficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, 365)/li/ulpstrongPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/strong/pulliExperience with Ignition SCADA software/liliBroad knowledge of programming languages and platforms: Java, Python, C++, VB.Net, SQL, and Visilogic/liliStrong documentation skills; comfortable with version control and change management/liliExperience with RCAs, CAPA activities, and risk assessments/li/ulp /ppThis posting is for an existing vacancy within our business. Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
